Sanctuary : Bronze Laver

The bronze laver was used for the continual washing of the Hebrew priests' hands and feet before they attended to the sacrificial services. This washing was mandatory so that "When they went into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not" (Exodus 30:20).

The water in the laver represents the Ruach Hakodesh, the Holy Spirit, and His work in motivating us to confess and repent of our sins. As the Israelites saw the Hebrew priests wash in the water before they performed their work, it taught them the truth that Messiah gave to Rabbi Nicodemus, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
